What makes a window “impact” rated?
Impact windows use laminated glass — two panes bonded to a strong interlayer — set in a reinforced frame. The assembly is tested to withstand wind-borne debris and repeated pressure cycles, and the glass stays in the frame even if it cracks.

Do I need a permit to replace windows or doors?
In most Southwest Florida cities and counties, yes. We pull the permit, install to code and schedule the final inspection for you.
Can impact windows lower my insurance premium?
Florida insurers must offer discounts for qualifying wind-mitigation features, and impact-rated openings are one of them. A wind mitigation inspection after installation documents it for your insurer.
How long does the process take?
Installation itself usually takes a few days for a typical home. Manufacturing lead times vary by product, so your estimate includes a specific timeline.
Will I still need hurricane shutters?
No. Properly installed impact-rated windows and doors provide the opening protection on their own, so shutters are no longer required on those openings.
